I sometimes get asked what it is that I do as a freelance consultant. That’s not always easy to answer in a pithy couple of sentences. To give yo
u a bit of an idea here are some of the things I got up to in December:
Stakeholder Engagement. I used my facilitation skills and extensive experience of planning and delivering stakeholder engagement in a project with a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness, in the South West. Working with my own The Wind in Your Sails team as part of the organisation’s re-brand project I supported and advised the charities team to plan, deliver and facilitate stakeholder engagement with their various stakeholders around wording and logos.
Partnership Building. Working for a financial inclusion CIC I explored greater partnerships between them and the health sector in the West of England - as part of their drive to address health inequalities. Using my existing knowledge of the health sector in this region, plus leaning on some of my contacts and my expertise with health structures and language I also explored funding and networking opportunities on their behalf and raised their profile locally.
Impact Assessment. I undertook a review of the impact management data and processes for a refugee charity in Bath. I brought my skills in reviewing and analysing to their current collection of impact data, undertook a gap analysis and then proposed new methodologies. This is part of an ongoing piece of work where I will be collaborating with the Head of Charity and a Trustee to improve impact measurement going forward.
Exploring Opportunities. I held an exploratory meeting with a Local Authority to explore possible opportunities for The Wind in Your Sails. We’re pulling together an offer based on our discussion and the skills and experience of our team.
